Greg Dorosh
Greg was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, but lived in Garfield ,NJ. He has been interested in art since childhood.He started out in art designing houses with floor plans at age 10. His father was a draftsman and spurred his interest in architecture and art. It wasn't until he was a teenager when Greg desired to be either an architect or artist. He started painting at age 14. Acrylics and pastels are his preferred mediums. He'll also work with water-soluble oils. Landscapes, figures , and still life are his usual subjects. He also creates Psankas - Ukrainian Easter eggs.
Greg’s art training was a self-directed study, attending workshops and watching art instruction DVDs. He uses pictures for reference material which he modifies to establish a composition for his landscapes. Some of his landscape paintings come from his imagination. He developed his technique by studying the art of the renaissance and 19th century impressionist artist.
Greg's art is influenced by the renaissance artists, and the impressionist. Goya and Rembrandt have influenced his figurative paintings. He also admires Renoir, Van Gogh, Manet and Monet. He considers himself an Impressionist.
Greg has participated in SeeMe Gallery’s group art shows in Times Square, World Trade Center in New York City; Scope in Miami, Florida; in CAGO Gallery landscape competition, in which he received a gallery choice award; ART Basel in Basel, Switzerland; Artist of Palm Beach County, he won an Honorable Mention award; ARTIFACT/ART UpClose in Los Angeles,CA and New York City,NY. Greg also has two of his paintings published in a book,’ COMTEMPORARY ART OF EXCELLENCE’. He was selected as a featured artist of the Impression group at Fine Arts America and SeeMe Gallery. He is a member of Fine Art America, SeeMe Gallery and Society 6.
